Could we be more in love?
Ethan's 5th month has been busy indeed. He has many new skills including tripod sitting (with close supervision), rolling onto his side, "standing" in his exer-saucer, reaching away from his body when upright (takes more trunk control), and shifting his weight to reach when lying on his stomach. He continues to love the changing table, kicking and being naked. Mommy is enjoying observing all the developmental changes--isolated finger movement, improving trunk control, righting reactions to guard against falls--it truly is amazing to see him change before our eyes!
And, lets not forget, eating solids. So far Ethan has tried apple, avocado and banana puree in addition to rice cereal. He loves sitting at the table with us and is so eager to eat. Daddy says he sounds like a little monkey, as we can barely bring the spoon to his mouth fast enough to satisfy.
We enjoyed a visit from Aunt Sara with trips to the NY state museum, and Villa Italia Bakery. It was such fun to spend extended time with her, and so thoughtful of my brother-in-law to suggest the trip and make it possible by watching their two kids. Thanks, Joe!
Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a date night to a favorite local Italian restaurant, Cornell's, followed by a performance at Proctor's Theatre by Bill Cosby (do you hear "Hey-hey-hey" from Fat Albert every time you hear his name, or is it just us?). We have good friends who have 2 foster children near Ethan's age, so we swap weekends for babysitting so we all get some alone time. Mommy does well while we're away, but thinks there is much truth in the statement, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". I think I miss him even when he is taking his nap :0)
