Come thou Long Expected Sprout

We learned Friday afternoon that our birthmom would be induced Saturday (12/14). So, we drove out to Cortland (New York) yesterday---in a snow storm---to be present for our new son's birth (whose codename is Sprout). We arrived safely around 3:30 traveling on well-plowed roads.

When we arrived, we got a hotel room and laid low to see how the induction was going. Around 7:30 PM we were able to visit with her for an hour. She was upbeat and doing well. Unfortunately, the medicine they gave her wasn't effective in producing labor.  Oh, and during our visit we also we learned, along with the birthmom, that they estimate Sprout to be almost almost 9 lbs!

This morning the midwife started again with another approach to get labor going. We just learned that the other approach wasn't effective either and that she and Sprout are still doing well.  So as she rests waiting to hear what's next, we continue to wait with her.

On the homefront, Ethan is having a great time in the nearly 12" of snow that arrived in Niskayuna overnight. Thanks to our good friends for serving us by caring for him!
