Westervelts Leave Niskayuna Under Cover of Darkness

NATO operation? No. We left Saturday (4/5) morning at the eye-bag-inducing hour of 4:50 AM to catch a flight to Tampa, Florida for four days of sun. Not sure what we were thinking when we bought the tickets. In any case, we're here on Anna Maria Island with Betsy's parents staying in a condo on the beach:
Yeah, you shouldn't feel too bad for us.

Our activities have included walks on the beach, body boarding (Betsy has the wounds to prove it), hunting for shells, watching the final round of the NCAA basketball tournament (can you believe UNC's performance?!), eating, and sleeping. We plan to watch Randy Pauche's "Last Lecture" tonight. We'll have plenty of tissues at hand.

We know it's been too long since we made a post, so here's an update: It's been 10 weeks since Eric started his job and 5 weeks since Betsy started hers. We're both settling in to our positions despite being annoyed at time at how long it takes to figure things out---not surprising given our high-strung personalities.

Betsy's Grandfather, Bob Weber, passed away on March 20th. He was 88 years old and married for 65 years. His obituary can be found here. We were fortunate to be able to attend the funeral in Hamilton, Ohio, near where Bob and Susie, Betsy's parents, live. Below are a few photos of Bob and his wife Mary Jane at our wedding.

In real estate news, settling into our home has been going at a pleasantly slow pace; we don't feel rushed to get the boxes unpacked or the pictures hung. Eric closed on his house on 2/29 and Betsy's house is in contract--yeah!
